What about objects, cities, transformations, rituals? What about building as a form of thinking, and thinking as a way of making? What about not knowing yet, but going anyway? What about listening, pausing, layering: making room for doubt, for joy, for complexity? What about including the ones often left out: voices, places, possibilities? What about architecture as dialogue, as process, as collective ground? What about working with what’s there, and what could be? What about working with, for, or around living things, always diverse, always in motion? What about durability: not just technical, but as deep care for resources and their flows? What about both starting and ending with a question?

What about is a shared practice by Charlotte Ardui and Jaana Cavents, operating at the intersection of research, architecture, and self-building. We always start from critical reading and creative interpretation of what is already present: spaces, materials, histories, craftsmanship, voices. We value slowness, curiosity, and working with care. With roots in architecture and research, our experience spans adaptive reuse, urban transformation, interior design, and architecture as a cultural practice. From there, we see architecture as an active responsibility: less about delivering answers, and more about asking meaningful questions, in dialogue with the world around us.
